Our family heritage is steeped in tradition. And it is here that our passion for tea also has its roots. We grew up believing that tea is not just a drink – it's a way of life. This philosophy gave birth to GURINDER, a place where we share our love for the finest organic teas with the world.

From Rothenhausen to the world

For us here in Rothenhausen, Switzerland, producing tea is more than just a process. We take great pride in our work, crafting each blend with meticulous care and a deep love for the various ingredients. This process yields a variety of subtle aromas that provide a spectrum of distinctive, balanced nuances to delight the taste buds, pamper the palate, and transport tea connoisseurs to a new realm of enjoyment.

We take great pride in the integrity and freshness of our teas. To meet our high standards, we bring home the best leaves from the most renowned tea gardens and use only the finest natural ingredients in our herbal and fruit tea blends.

Among other criteria, we assess the quality of our raw materials according to how they were cultivated. That's why the ingredients for our teas come from 100% organic and fair-trade sources.

We work with fair trade and organic sourcing groups and nurture close, long-term relationships with our farmers and tea-growing partners. We closely monitor both the cultivation and processing and carry out frequent inspections. This enables us to uphold the exceptionally high standards that tea connoisseurs have come to expect from us and which make GURINDER products what they are. Our tea leaves are sourced from the famous tea gardens in Assam and Darjeeling in the Himalayan foothills, as well as from Yunnan in China, and from Japan, Africa and South America.

Our organic tea blends contain no added flavours or aromas, whether natural or artificial. They are crafted from the finest-quality tea leaves and carefully selected herbs and spices, which are expertly blended and carefully processed to ensure an exquisite taste experience. Sustainable quality from the start

We attach great importance to treating nature and society with care and respect. That's why sustainability begins with our selection of partners and natural ingredients and extends all the way through to our interactions with people and products. Of course, this also includes the packaging that we use for our products.

In line with our strict quality standards, we offer our customers the best of both worlds: premium loose-leaf organic teas, as well as herbal infusion specialities with the same leaf quality in convenient pyramid tea bags.

The bags are big enough to allow the fresh leaves to interact and fully unfurl their flavour. As a family business, we stand for quality down to the last detail. Our pyramid tea bags are made from biodegradable material based on cornstarch – free from nylon and produced entirely without glue or staples.

Nevertheless, we still recommend disposing of used tea bags in regular household waste rather than garden compost. This is because the natural decomposition process takes longer in compost, and the necessary temperatures are often not reached, especially during the winter months.

Tea with or without caffeine

Although all tea comes from the same plant, Camellia sinensis, there are many different types, including green, white, oolong and black. How they are made depends on the specific leaves that are used and their degree of oxidation or processing. True tea naturally contains caffeine.

The caffeine content of one cup is about the same as that of a cup of coffee. White tea even contains slightly more caffeine. The amount of caffeine in tea also depends on the steeping time and temperature.

Thought herbal tea was caffeine-free? That's not always the case. In fact, some herbs contain even more caffeine than tea! The two most popular herbs in this category are guayusa and mate.

Caffeine is a chemical compound found in certain plants. Humans have been harvesting these plants for thousands of years because of their stimulating effects. For the plants, caffeine acts as a natural insecticide capable of killing or repelling pests that threaten to feed on them

Some flowers, such as those of citrus fruits, also contain a small amount of caffeine in their nectar. Bees can get 'addicted' to this caffeine, which causes them to keep returning to pollinate – like a tiny 'bee café'.
